About NexWhoisD

NexWhoisD was originally developed for a much larger project called the "nexus" (hence the name). This project is not ready for release yet, but in the course of preparing for it a whois server was needed. Existing public whois server software is hard to come by and the servers that existed did not quite fit the projects needs, so it was decided to write one from scatch.

The server supports both domain and IP registration information, though because the server is still in beta the record types are not as flexible as is planned in the future.

As the server is in beta it has not been exhaustively tested, and although every effort has been taken to ensure secure and robust coding practices, and simple acceptance testing has verified the server does work and handle most error conditions gracefully, no guarantees are yet made about stability or security. Appropriate steps should be taken to mitigate these risks if you choose to deploy the server.

For extra features like bug reporting, forums and SVN see the projects main sourceforge page. The easiest way to contact the developer is to use the projects forums at sourceforge, or you can find more information about the developer here.
